Self-Employed Persons Program

On April 29th, 2024, IRCC announced the SEPP would be paused until the end of 2026. The program will be amended before its reopening. Here is how the program was until April 30th 2024:

The self-employed persons program allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person if they

  • Have at least two years of relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics as a self-employed person and

  • Are willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.

What kind of experience do I need?

  • You’ve taken part in cultural activities or athletics at a world-class level

    or

  • You’ve been as a self-employed person in the field of cultural activities or athletics.

What’s the selection criteria?

Applicants are assessed on selection criteria that include experience, education, age, language abilities and adaptability.
